A heartwarming tale of hope and the power of kindness, based on a true story.

Weeza the hound is trapped in a pack of hunting dogs. As the smallest, she fights for food scraps and the others mistreat her. When the man in the orange hat cages her and drives to the woods, he expects her to hunt. Instinctively Weeza chases the deer. But when she loses interest, the man comes after her and she bolts, escaping into the unknown.

After running all day to avoid getting captured, she spies a house. She carefully approaches to search for food but stays hidden. When she meets a kind couple the next day, Weeza must overcome her fears and learn to trust again if she wants to make it her new home.

Release date TBD, but coming in 2022!
Meet the real Weeza
A young hound dog a beautiful shade of auburn showed up at our property on January 15, 2020. She appeared malnourished and abandoned, likely by a hunter who didn’t think she panned out as the huntress they hoped. We also surmised she had been abused by her skittish, anxious and distrusting behavior, but she stuck around when we showered her with love, kindness…and food.

It took time for her to trust us, but every day she made continuous strides to overcome her fears and give in to all the goodness my husband and I could provide (and let me just add my husband loves dogs more than most humans, and is pretty much a dog whisperer. His instincts and knowledge are what guided us, along with some help we sought from others).

Ultimately, Weeza chose to stick around, and we chose to care for her. It’s been a wonderful, heartwarming and life-affirming true story to witness and take part in. As I shared her story, little Weeza fast became an online sensation, bringing joy to many who bore witness to her brave heart.

What does her name mean?
Weeza is a funny, shortened word for weasel. Her behavior around snatching food bits before taking off in darting kind of trot was a little weasel-y, and made us laugh. The name stuck.
